Legal Counsel for the Elderly may be able to assist with your unique legal needs. Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE) provides legal assistance in a wide variety of civil legal areas including protective services (e.g., powers of attorney, guardianships), consumer (e.g., debt counseling, predatory lending, deed fraud, home repair problems), housing (L/T, public housing) public benefits (e.g., SSI, Social Security), health, foreclosures, wills and other civil legal areas. Services are provided through a variety of mechanisms including hotline advice, staff attorneys, the Pro Bono Project which refers cases to private and government attorneys, and Self-Help Offices at outreach sites. LCE is also the office for the D.C. Long-Term Care Ombudsman, which monitors nursing homes, assisted living and other long-term care facilities in the District of Columbia.
