Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (West Bank Office in Harvey) may be able to assist with your unique legal needs. SLLS is a non-profit law office which has served low-income community residents since 1979. SLLS provides free services to eligible people through its staff and volunteer attorneys. SLLS works with community groups and social service agencies to give up-to-date information about legal issues affecting the poor in Louisiana. SLLS also collaborates with other legal advocacy organizations around the state and nationally in litigation and educational efforts to protect the legal rights of the poor and to improve their lives. The Harvey office of SLLS handles cases in the parishes of St. Charles and Jefferson. Southeast Louisiana Legal Services has offices in Baton Rouge, Covington, Hammond, Harvey, Houma and New Orleans. Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Corporation offers free legal aid for most civil problems, including family, domestic violence, landlord-tenant, food stamps, welfare, health, disability benefits, bankruptcy, consumer, employment and tax cases.
