Expired Class Action Settlements

$60 Pro Armor UTV Doors Class Action Settlement

A judge has granted preliminary approval of a class action settlement between LSI Products Inc. and consumers that purchased Pro Armor brand utility vehicle (UTV) doors that include the following styles:

  • RZR
  • RZR
  • Teryx
  • RZR-S
  • RZR XP900
  • RZR XP 1000
  • RZR XP900 4
  • RZR XP 4 1000

Primary plaintiff Katrina Allison filed the class action lawsuit against LSI Products Inc., with the main allegation that the company promised, but did not deliver safety benefits for the UTV doors. LSI has repeatedly denied the allegations, but the company has settled the case to avoid costly litigation. LSI Products Inc. represents the company that previously manufactured Pro Armor designed doors. Eligible class members purchased new UTV doors, not the doors previously owned by other consumers. The class action settlement explicitly defines eligible class members to prevent resellers from having to face class action lawsuit allegations.

What You Need to Know

Eligible class members purchased the faulty UTV doors between June 11, 2010 and June 11, 2014. The class action settlement includes consumers who purchased new Pro Armor UTV doors through Pro Armor or an authorized seller. According to the Pro Armor settlement website www.UTVDoorSettlement.com, “Under the terms of the settlement, purchasers of the Doors during June 11, 2010, through June 11, 2014, will be eligible to receive either: (1) a $60 gift card; or (2) a 10 percent discount coupon (maximum discount value of $60) for use at ProArmor.com.” LSU has also agreed to stop advertising benefits that the doors do not offer to prevent additional class action lawsuit charges against the company.

Class members have until June 2, 2017 to opt out or contest the Pro Armor class action settlement. Language of the class action settlement also includes “If the total redeemed value of gift cards after the gift card expiration date is less than $200,000, LSI will make up the difference between the actual redeemed value of gift cards and $200,000 by making a contribution equal to amount of the gap to charity. Class members must include proof of purchase with every claim form to a $60 gift card.”

The deadline to file a claim form is June 2, 2017, with all claims submitted during the narrow window from April 3, 2017 to the deadline date. Katrina Allison, et al. v. LSI Products, Inc. dba Pro Armor, Case No. RIC 1405812, in Riverside County Superior Court has scheduled a final hearing on August 15, 2017.

Eric Webb and Brian Beecher from Webb & Beecher represent the plaintiffs in the Pro Armor class action lawsuit. Eric Kizirian of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith handles the defense counsel responsibilities for LSI Products Inc.
